3D Animation Cycles
3D animation is used in a large majority of places within the industry, whether it be for video games, advertisements, movies or even medicine. Animation can be used in many different ways for many different purposes and since it is created within a 3D software, the creator can make the animation look extremely realistic as if it was real life or they could even use imagination to create animation for fiction categories, such as super powers.
3D animations are created by using computer software, where programs such as Blender, Maya and Cinema 4D (etc.) give the user various tools that can aid them in many different ways, so that they can create the perfect animation that they would like.
3D Walk Cycle Animation
Here is a 3D Walk cycle that has been created in a 3D program such as Blender and by observing this animation, you can how that the cycle itself looks rather realistic and fluent without any stupid bugs or glitches occurring within the process. This would be effective to use within most games using any model, since a nice fluent walk is always more pleasing to observe rather than a broken cycle or no walk at all.
Overwatch - Genji
Genji is a fast paced offensive ninja, who has various abilities which are shown beautifully throughout game-play in animation. Here is a clip of Genji using multiple abilities and you can see the different animations that you see on the screen at the moment when Genji is using them.
Basic attack - Genji throws shurikens towards an area in 3 round bursts. In the animation, you can see that the animation itself is rather fast but Genji rapidly fires the 3 shurikens individually.
Deflect - In Genji's perspective, he pulls out his sword and whenever a projectile flies towards him he moves his sword to replicate that he moved to the angle which the projectile was travelling to so that it backfired towards the enemy. The effect looks very cool and each time he changes the sword position feels very satisfying as you can also see the projectiles being fired right back at the enemy.
Dragonblade - Genji releases "The Dragonblade" showing the animation of him fiercely and stylishly revealing his sword with a dragon animation spiraling around the sword. Each swing with the sword looks very powerful thanks to the animation effects and the speed to sword itself is travelling.
Overwatch - Mccree
Mccree is defensive anti-flanker, as he reenacts an american cowboy from famous films starring people such as Clint Eastwood as Mccree's ultimate "Deadeye" is inspired Clint Eastwood taking down a number of cowboys by rapidly smacking the barrel of his revolver taking each one down one by one.
Peacekeeper - Mccree's Weapon is practically a revolver and by looking at the animation, you can see how powerful the weapon itself indicated by the recoil from the gun, blasting his hand high into the sky which leaves a nice a satisfying effect when shooting.
Fan the Hammer - When I use this ability, I feel really stylish as Mccree smacks the barrel of the Peacekeeper because the animation fits in with the flow of the character himself but after you have used one fan the hammer, you can use the roll ability and instantly use it once again.
Deadeye - Once you use this ability, you flame red and say the infamous quote, "It's High Noon", skulls appear above the targets heads and Mccree takes them down one by one in a fan the hammer style by smacking the barrel on the peacekeeper. Sadly, the ultimate is easily countered within the game but if you actually land a successful deadeye, it feels super satisfying.
3D Animation in Wider Applications
3D Animation could also be used for a massive benefit in wider applications such as Education, Medicine and Hospitality. This could lead to saving the lives of the human race as Nurse's, Doctor's and Teacher's can learn how things within general life are such as the body parts within the human body or even different types of medicine and bone structure as scans can also be used and created into 3D models for a greater benefit.
Here are some examples of 3D animation and models being used for an extremely good use which could result in educating many people around the world about knowledgeable subjects and nowadays, 3D models and animations aren't that hard to make because of the equipment we can use in today.
Conclusion
To conclude, I believe that animation makes a big difference in many different ways as without it, things would feel rather stale and not as enjoyable as it is right now. For example, if Mccree's Peacekeeper had no recoil when shot, the player would feel extremely unsatisfied and I think its really rubbish if the peacekeeper had a really weak recoil to it rather than it is in Overwatch with heavy recoil making the user feel very powerful.
